Freelance illustrator/animator Laci Morgan's latest projects, helpful advice, and news!

About Me

Hi everyone! I'm a 25-year-old freelance artist living in the Inland Empire area of Southern California. Since I was very little, my parents knew I'd be an artist...I was the kid who drew flip books for fun, and paused my worn video tape of "The Little Mermaid" so that I could draw Ariel frame by frame! I however, was certain that I was going to become a famous tiger/dolphin trainer. (Though I'm not too sure how that was supposed to work....) It's a good thing I started to realize how much of a passion I had for art and animation, or I might have been giant kitty chow by now. :)

In the past 5 years, I've been lucky enough to try working at all sorts of places, like Universal Studios Hollywood, where I was a tour guide, and the Disneyland Resort, where I played "Mom Elias" in the Innoventions Dream Home and taught character drawing in the Animation Academy. Those jobs allowed me to learn a lot about the entertainment industry and get to play with another hobby of mine, acting. I looove musical theater, especially "Wicked," and my husband has gotten me into "The Scarlet Pimpernel" as well. (You can catch me singing along to showtunes in the car at the top of my lungs quite often) It's been interesting to discover how as an artist, it's really helpful to have a good idea of staging and emotion.

Right now, I'm currently finishing a degree in Media Arts and Animation at the Art Institute, Online Division. I love the flexibility of the classes, because it allows me to learn on my own time and still be able to pursue freelancing full time. With my business, Laci Morgan Creations, (visit the site at www.lacimorgancreations.com) I've had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, from character design and animation, graphics for children's books, mascots for company logos, wedding invitations, and even product designs. I love what I do!

I hope that through this blog, I can document what it's like to be working as a professional artist, and that I can share my joys, frustrations, and advice with other artists who might be going through the same things. Enjoy, and feel free to contact me at lacimorganart@gmail.com if you have any questions!

About Me

My photo
I'm an animation student at the Art Institute, as well as a budding freelance illustrator and graphic designer. I tend to specialize in Disney-like character designs and 2D animation, but I also have the ability to do professional graphics like ads, logos, and photo effects. This blog will follow current projects I'm working on, provide advice to fellow designers, and just celebrate anything in the world of art that happens to catch my fancy!
